About

Cuban Orchestra of 8 members Santy y su Marabú with its leader, talented black Cuban musician and multi instrumentalist Santiago F. Jimenez Smith (Santy) – composer, arranger, artistic director, tresero and singer, is performing exactly what you can experience during famous concerts at La Casa de Musica in Havana - vigorous energizing dance portion, natural spontaneity, rhythmically rich and melodic music, and all from Santiago's "laboratory". His arrangements contain roots of Cuban tradition (son, guaguaco, cha cha cha, sucu sucu, mozambique, afro-cuban folklor, changui..), latin influences (merengue, samba.), jazz or popular Caribbean stream (timba a reggaeton). All this he magicly fuses with fine taste into very original “salsa” or just simply and smartly maintain the traditional form in the song. Concert of Santy y su Marabú is impressive and colorful show of Caribbean rhythms with peculiar charge in hands of gifted musicians coming mainly from Cuba (tres, piano, trumpet, trombone, flute/saxophon, bass, conga, bonga, timbáles). The debut album called Rumberito was released In 2007.
